Back then it really did seem like it was a place where only good things happened.

He hadn’t been to Topsail since 1959, four years ago. There wasn’t a whole lot of newness to the place, it was still pretty desolate. A few more homes had been built, and the Superette at the four corners just beyond the swing bridge had added a laundromat and beauty salon.
