Finding Home
Knocking on the door, he waited. He did not have time for this; he thought. Not one bit. He heard a giggle, a soft almost melodic giggle then the door opened.
The first thing that crossed his mind was how perfect she looked and very much like he thought she sounded only moments before. The second thing that hit him was she had her mother's eyes. Eyes that made you want to keep watching, because something, something you were not expecting was there. Heaven. “Aimee, please, let mommy by please, and go to your room for a minute ok.” Ryan looked up and into the matching eyes in adult form, the only difference, these were apparently wet, freshly patted as the mascara below was telling the tale, the red tip to her nose said it had been a full-on crying jag. Instantly he felt frustration, no deep-seated anger. Whoever or whatever made her cry was crazy, no one should want those beautiful eyes crying, and he wanted to teach whoever did a lesson. “Mr. Jeffers?” The voice slowly registered in his mind. “Mr. Jeffers, can I help you? Why are you here? How are you here?”
He gave her his full attention, his mind telling him to get with the program while something else, wanted to just pull her to him and hold her tight until whatever had made her upset went away.
