Some days I sit back and wonder where would I be if I didn’t have
people around me that see past what I see in myself. The truth of the
matter is, it is not just about having them in my life, but also being
willing to submit to what it is they are seeing.
I would encourage you to take a long look at those who are around
you. We all need someone in our life that we trust enough to submit
to. Oftentimes we see submitting as something that diminishes our
value, but it really brings greater value to us. When you think about
the human body, each part of the body brings value to the other
parts. The eyes bring value to the feet, because the eyes see where
the feet are carrying the body. The ears bring value to the eyes, be-
cause the eyes only can see a person, but not hear what the person is
saying (See I Corinthians 12). All of this only works when the parts
of the body submit to each other.
In following Jesus, we have to understand that He has placed peo-
ple in our lives that are there to help us see blind spots that we can’t
see. We have to settle on the idea that we will have to submit our-
selves to the leading of others who have demonstrated a Godly life.
Being unwilling to submit, means you are unwilling to truly follow
