As Morag attended to the routine clearing up she reflected again on the highlanders’ strict adherence to the Sabbath. No matter how urgent human needs might be, nothing would entice the ferries to move between the mainland and Skye till next midnight, still almost twenty-four hours away. A death or worsening illness or injury due to the lack of medical care would be laid down to God’s will.
Morag’s own beliefs were less rigid. She held fast to the God is love mantra. She and David privately held similar views. She could almost hear him now, “Let us think on the parables that speak against a pharisaic insistence on strictures. You continue my love to go about your Sabbath tasks with joy
