“It’s true. The Hotel Fasano lives up to the hype. Daniel was enjoying the street party, but it got very crowded and noisy, wanted to go to a quieter place where we could talk. The rooftop of the Fasano was an easy choice. I’ve wanted to go there since it opened. We were still able to view the action on Ipanema strip from the rooftop poolside bar. In fact, you can see Cristo Redentor lit up in the distance from up there. Being there was like being in heaven.”
Gabriela and Marina finished climbing the entrance steps to Our Lady of Paz and were ready to enter its regal-gold cathedral. Marina proudly whispered, “The Fasano rooftop merely pretends to be heaven.” Behind the altar, a gilt painting of Christ holding a cherub in his arms reminded Marina of her mission to protect her child physically and spiritually. The pipe organ trumpeted the processional, “Alleluia,” as the choir triumphantly caroled. Marina stretched her arms outward to majesty within. “Now this, my lovely daughter,” she proudly beamed, “this is the true gateway to heaven.”
