She unlocked her office door and let her eyes rest on the comforting, familiar figure of Ganesh sitting on the table by her chair. Kate and Finn had sent all the way to India for him the Christmas they were eighteen. He was the crown jewel of her collection of Ganeshes, the largest and most elaborately detailed, painted in oranges, blues, and golds. Like a friend, he accompanied her through each session, offering solace and lending inspiration when her own well ran dry. She looked at Ganesh and whispered a prayer for the daddy longlegs. “May he find the light and journey to his new form.”
