Some essential oil producers prefer to blend their lavenders. Blending can an aromatic choice, as in the case of a producer who simply wishes to “harden” a particularly “sweet” batch or it can be a way to save money by “cutting” an expensive batch with a variety that is a bit more cost effective.
Using blends also allows growers to adopt a use-what-you-have approach to each individual growing season. As with any crop, lavender yields vary from season to season. Blends can be a handy way for small growers, especially, to maximize those yields.
Like lavandin essential oils, lavender blends tend to be less expensive for the consumer.
