Germany's Commission E monograph on lavender defines the flowers and the essential oil distilled from those flowers (but not the leaves) as the therapeutic parts of the parent plant. In respect to dried lavender flowers, the Commission approved them for these ailments:
Stomach and digestive conditions
No side effects, contraindications or drug interactions were noted, although the Commission did say lavender may work best when it is combined with herbs that also have sedative or digestive actions.
