He thought for a moment, then answered “All Gypsies, just like all Gaji, are not bad. Some are dishonest and steal, cheat, and lie to get what they want. But most are honest, hardworking people. It’s the bad who make it hard for the good. Often we have been run out of town before we are even able to set up because of a bad experience with another circus or carnival. The grapevine is swift and most of the time we know which towns to avoid, but sometimes we don’t and then there’s trouble.
