eBooks are continuing to expand in terms of publishing presence. While more people turn to the iPad and the Kindle as virtual bookshelves, writers can’t ignore the idea of digital writing and publication.
Since eBooks are cheaper to create and cheaper to disperse (often instantly), this format is a great way to keep your audience inside your inner circle.
But there are still some readers who think eBooks are somehow ‘less’ of a book than a traditional book format is. And that makes sense, honestly. Since there isn’t anything to hold, a reader might believe the eBook is going to be of a lesser quality.
You can’t perpetuate this stereotype.
Instead, create eBooks that you can disperse on your website or your blog, but make sure they’re just as high quality as anything else you’d write.
When you do this, you show your reader that quality can be had, even in an electronic format, plus you continue to build trust. This trust will allow you to increase your chances of selling more books when the time comes for you to do so.
Give something away. It doesn’t have to be long, but it does have to offer something valuable to your reader. And once they read it, they can’t wait to see what else you have to offer…even if they have to pay for it.
