A nice looking man took Katie’s hand and led her to the dance floor, lacing her fingers through his. “You need to see what it’s like to dance with a real partner, young lady.” His strength coaxed her into moves she had never tried. “You should stick around and party with us more often, young lady.” She felt her bad mood evaporate as she warmed up to the unusual party. The next hours flew by as they danced and ate, and visited with the guests.
“Ben, this is the way to party, don’t you think?” Mickey smiled at Katie out on the dance floor.
Ben was taken aback with Mickey’s presence. “So is this it, Mickey? The whole time you were a joke that Richard was having fun with?”
Mickey looked out at Katie on the dance floor. “She is a beauty, isn’t she?” He tipped his hat to Ben and headed for the door.
“Wait, Mickey. The joke’s over, you don’t have to go.” Ignoring him, Mickey disappeared into the outdoors.
Ben saw Richard. “Hey, Richard. You are slick with the Mickey thing. You really had me going.”
“Ben, what on earth are you talking about?” He saw the direction Ben was pointing. “Oh, him. That old guy was just asking for directions.”
Ben ran out of the front entrance but there was no sign of him. Son of a bitch, he got me again. Returning to the party, he soon forgot about the angel as he watched Katie charm her dancing partner.
