When they came to the display for ancient Egypt both men stopped and meticulously studied the death masks, pottery, and even jewelry that was worn by both men and women in that era. There was a stunning display of earrings that both sexes wore. As they were quietly studying the display Kain found his eyes focusing on a gold necklace that had been studded with jade and turquoise. As he read the description on the card Kain stood completely still and even stopped breathing for a moment. This was it, this necklace was a gift to Cleopatra from Antony and his family had been searching for it for generations. Kain was positive that this necklace wasn’t on display the last time he was here.
“It’s beautiful isn’t it? We have the necklace on loan from a private antiquities collector by the name of Amin Dushara. The man is quite a character and said that he would be happy to lend other pieces as the time came for rearranging our displays to keep our museum fresh for its visitors,” Andre informed him.
“That necklace is a work or pure art and unless I miss my guess it has a history surrounding it,” Kain replied.
“None that I’m aware of. All Mr. Dushara had to say was that it was from ancient Egypt,” Andre replied.
“Believe it or not Andre, over the years my family has kept close track of the antiquities that pop up on the market. After all our ancestors were once wealthy Egyptians and we do enjoy preserving our history. I have seen only a description of the necklace but if it’s the same one, than what you have is actually a gift that Marc Antony had commissioned for Cleopatra Philopater,” Kain replied knowingly.
“Are you serious,” Andre asked incredulously.
“As a heart attack,” was Kain’s reply.
