As Kain picked up the phone he heard her soft voice speak, “Greetings Drusus.”
With a slight jump in his chair Kain dropped the phone into its cradle and exclaimed, “Jesus!” Kain turned in his chair and saw the least wanted specter that he ever wanted to see. After his heart settled back down Kain replied, “ I thought I told you that I never wanted to see you again and that I wanted even less to do with your plots to see a defunct empire rise again,” Kain told her. His tone was annoyed.
“And I believe that I told you that I couldn’t do that, nor would Ra Neb allow such potential go to waste,” Cleopatra replied firmly. This statement resulted in a stare down between the two of them that seemed to last for hours instead of minutes, but in the end it was Cleopatra that had to look away. In Kain’s eyes Cleopatra saw the stubbornness of her beloved Antony and she knew that she would have to change her tactics if she wanted any chance at all to right the wrongs done to her and her people. For Cleopatra knew that Antony had never backed down from a battle in his life, and she knew now that Drusus would be the same way that her beloved had been.
