Day 2: Saturday, October 28, 2034
Careen woke in the semidarkness and saw Christmas lights dangling haphazardly from a window frame. But it isn’t Christmas. The lights weren’t lit. She was definitely someplace she’d never been before.
She was lying on her side, and able to glance around without lifting her head. The room was messy, and the sheets had an unfamiliar smell. She spied her bag hanging from the back of a chair. As she became more aware of her surroundings, she realized that she wasn’t wearing any clothes. Her confusion turned to panic when she felt someone stir beside her. Oh Jeez. She held her breath and squeezed her eyes shut, hoping this was some kind of crazy dream.
She jumped at the disaster siren’s three sharp blasts and ruined her chances of slipping away unnoticed. She looked guiltily over her shoulder. A boy with dark curly hair lay face down on his pillow. Oh crap oh crap oh crap. Who is that? Where am I?
