Powers Not Delegated
Lee’s overall conclusion was that the recent near-breakdown of the world’s economic system and subsequent panic had been artificially created. Though the US housing market’s problems were inflicted by foolish, government-mandated lending policies and overly aggressive investors, those factors alone were not enough to have caused the meltdown. Krakos, using his many affiliate companies and other shadow organizations, had executed a series of carefully planned securities, options, and futures transactions. Each transaction viewed separately was of little consequence. However, when viewed collectively and in light of the precise timing of the trades, an unstable situation became critical.
