“Really?” said Scout. All dogs knew where the Battery was, all water dogs, that is. If you didn’t have a motorboat or a boat ramp to swim off, it was the next best thing for being on the water. Plus, sometimes the fishermen shared their bait.
“Yes,” said Pudge. “My mumma sells houses and she told me all about how the city determines if your toilet empties in the harbor.”
“How do they tell?”
“They light a big fire and make green gas go through the pipes and if the green gas ends up in the harbor, you have to buy a different house because the city makes you fix the house so your toilet ends up somewhere else.”
