I will tell you a “scary" tale-truth (which I
heard in my childhood from my grandmother), about,
how in our Rod an ancient ancestor traveled to
Kolyvan’* for “Dead water”.
“There was a tragedy in Sem’ya, a younger
sister was seriously injured. She was bedridden
with injuries, with fever and hallucinations, and in
summer wounds became infected fast. Wise people
advised to find “dead water”, in order to wash the
wounds. This water could only be found in Kolyvan’!
But the path to Kolyvan’, a difficult task, for that is
a place of Nav’* - enchanted! So he had to go to
Kolyvan’. Volhvs of Kolyvan' pointed him to a well,
where he would find the much needed water.
And said - “do not waste time, one time you’ll
turn the handle, will age five years, two times -
again the same amount… and if you drop the pale,
you will not be able to bring it up again, will die
from old age where you stand!”.
He did not become frightened and went to
the water well! Brought a full chalice of “dead
water" back to volhvs, but became full of gray hair
and as withered as a hundred year old grandfather.
Then the eldest volhv, who saw his courage, picked
up a white stone and threw it far in the direction of
that same Kolyvan’, willing him to bring it back. And
as he left for Kolyvan' a gray old man, he brought
back the white stone to volhv as a young man as
before!Returned he to his home place, brought back
“dead water" and the white stone. His sister’s
wounds upon her legs quickly healed once they were
cleansed with this water. The white stone was
placed by the top of her head and filled her with
strength. She became more beautiful and more
lively than ever! That stone was kept within the
Rod as Sacred and possessed incredible healing
powers!"
