Shelley sat frozen to the floor in grief over the article she had just read. Anna had met the love of her life and was planning to marry him when it all ended one night on a rainy road. Since the realtor had told them that the last owner of the house was an Anna Wilburn, it was obvious she never married and had stayed single her whole life. So sad. Here I am deliriously happy to be married to Tony, and Anna never got to experience that, or have children play on the grass, or... Tears flowed once more.
Composing herself, she picked up the last item in the box, a handwritten story. As Shelley read through it, she saw that it was the story of an apple tree and how a boy named Thomas planted it. Then Thomas grew up and went off to fight in the Civil War. He never came back and never got to taste the fruit of his own tree. The tears continued to fall.
