Karmyn La'Freniere is an elven Wyrecrafter, basically a magical scribe whose canvas is dragons.
The I, Karmyn series depicts the major events in Karmyn's life from her perspective. This, the first book, contains her life between the ages of 13 and 26. But, age is relative because on Primlearth elves are physically children until after age 30.
I have 3 master's degrees and am unemployed. I began writing in late 2010 for something productive to do with my time. I've completed one fantasy novel (unpublished) and have several others in progress.
Several of the chapters in this book have a brief introduction to what is considered Karmyn's present with respect to the overall story's timeline: the last days of her Wyrecrafting responsibilities, the last days in which she has access to the dragons. They are used to set a tone.

I, Karmyn Version 1
Near the end of second forum, I entered my home lair. The nostalgia flooded through my five foot frame, evoking a momentary pause, and then a full-body shudder. A thin mist blurred my bronze-colored eyes, only not because the chilled air initiated condensation – a very real possibility, considering the altitude was 2 miles above sea level. This particular lair was located in some mountain range somewhere. A portal connected it with the royal family’s keep.I’d spent a large portion of the last fifteen years coming into this chamber. My familiarity with it rivaled that of my room. I certainly felt a greater affinity for it.More had taken place in this chamber, intellectually, than anywhere else in my life. And, as far as I perceived, than anywhere I’d ever be. The chamber was enormous, and it had to be, to house a 500-foot long dragon whose wingspan could approach 1000-feet fully extended. For whatever reason, I was never given justification for much of anything –but probably because it was the closest to where I lived (or because of my fiery personality) – I spent more time with this one dragon than any other. His name was Ba’yroh, and his element was fire.I closed my eyes and reflected back to the first time I entered his chamber, a mere child of 13.
