Introduction
“If you give a man a fish you feed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” - Lao Tzu
We all live our lives with the thought of success.
Many of us have a fixated thought that success is indeed a million dollars. Many of us endlessly play lotto tickets, go to casinos, invest in the stock market, buy materials for cheap and sell them for more, join a pyramid job in order to achieve such a goal, go to college to become a doctor, lawyer, or some business person, and of course, start a business or rent out a property.
Through this journey, many of us find ourselves struggling, fighting with our thoughts and craving that success, or what we define to be success. Many will have their heads down and few will have their heads high. But through this short read, I want to define a Universal sense of success, a success through our spirituality, along with how we can manage our lives for such success.
How often has one become successful, but has bought countless materials in order to fill up their desire of being content? How often has one shot another man in the back or betrayed their fellow man simply for the dollar? The struggle for the dollar. What is success? Success is measured by what our mind feels to be obtainable and gives us a sense of happiness and completeness.
As through all emotions, success comes and goes; it is the journey of life to have ups and downs, highs and lows. To truly appreciate the highs, we must feel and see the lows (in whichever way we see the lows). We know, truthfully, that Universal laws are a sense of being alone, not having “enough” and feeling limitation in our minds.. What modern day success is, and has been for a very long time, is one achieving a material good (money) with which one can buy many materials. Even some beings along the way have materialized themselves to be bought as a material. We have seen art and music deteriorate through such success. One will give away their creative ability to simply have enough money, then realize, just as in all things, that an emotion comes and goes and so does the feeling and value of that material.
If you have a million dollars, you will only appreciate what you can do WITH that million dollars. If you buy many things, you will then appreciate the million dollars because it gives you a sense of freedom. But mind you, that million dollars also gives you a sense of power. We have seen it today, that power, along with ignorance, is what causes separation. Imagine yourself hitting the lotto; what do you feel? You may feel happy, an urge of freedom, a desire to boast, and a mind to proceed and do many things. Instead of even thinking of sharing that wealth, we would rather keep it to ourselves. Many of us, that is, not all. This is what causes a separation in man; this success and mindset has separated us from ourselves, our own individual self, and when you give into a thought, that thought has the possibility to become your action if you choose and allow it, which will then become your habit, and thus your character, eventually creating a destination that is possibly reaping your destiny.
This is why it’s crucial to understand that success is many things. What do you wish to truly be successful in? If you had all the money in the world or there was no such thing as such a dollar, what would you do? Who would you see? Who would you help? Who would you share your life with? Will it truly be yours? We are species that are meant to give, are we not? When we give in such a positive way, we see positive change. Is this not success or perhaps a part?
May I ask you, reader, what is success without fellow man on this Earth? What is success without feeding your friends, or family? You may fish, you may play at many activities, you may dance, you may sing, and you may express yourself. Wouldn’t you think that this is actually a more rewarding sense of success? The ability to show for yourself and say “I did it.” Is this not success? Why must it be a six figure salary, or a million dollars?
Let us take a look at our children. Remember your childhood? Free as can be. No sense of money, just fun and respect.
When something was yours, maybe you acted out in a selfish manner. But our parents taught us it is best to share, and through that sharing, you had a great time. You exchanged emotions, you exchanged your thoughts and actions, even your materials. Try to remember the time when you obtained something new, like a toy or some game. What happened when you got a new toy or game? Eventually, you forgot about it. And thus wanted a new one. This has grown with us, to continue to want and forget about what is around us. Children give naturally; even babies reach out when you reach out your hand. But today you reach out, and you may not even give. We have grown into a society that finds giving to be wrong; to distrust our fellow man is now normal. I understand that we are born into this world, and giving is hard, but we must change ourselves in order to reap true success. Or else we will continue to be lead on like a piece of food hanging over a dog’s head — chasing the food and forgetting the moment.
I cannot stress enough that the thought of it has stressed me. Just like you. The success of man to try many things — where the money is, everyone follows. You ever notice that? If all fish are after the same thing, only one will truly reap its reward and many will be left empty.
We are not fish, we are human beings. Let me tell you, we have a mind that is capable of ignorance and supreme intelligence. Intelligence to watch over each other, and to create technology to reshape our world in a way of success for us and also all living things. To explore the universe and see all of the Creator’s magnificent creations. Instead, we often choose to focus on ourselves and a simple dollar. But through this read, I hope you will learn of a way of spiritual success, of mind, body, and soul. I will still teach about the dollar, but also show you more serious ways to achieve. Most importantly, you must have the mind, body, and soul’s success, or you will continue to feel such a way.
