You will be, if you have not already been, exposed to a number of literary philosophies. They will seem confusing at times, brilliant at others, nonsensical, overblown, fascinating, repellent, familiar and ridiculous. They will also seem stimulating, dull, compelling, astute, delightful, simplistic, contorted, complex, one-dimensional and insane. That is because they are all of these things and more.
Therefore, I fail to see how anyone can be an adherent of any of these critical paths exclusively. Moreover, it seems positively backward to think that it is appropriate to examine every text with the same methodology.
