Does she admit to the feelings she’s experiencing, or can she dodge the seriousness of the conversation and deflect the discussion in a different direction? It’s only been a few days. Can she be sure of what she’s feeling? She chews on her bottom lip as she looks into his earnest eyes. She doesn’t have the heart to redirect anything. He deserves the truth. She wasn’t allowed to explore what she felt in high school, but she intends to fully examine the possibilities now. Screw the consequences.
“There is definitely something going on between us. It scares the hell out of me because relationships have never gone well for me, or those I care about. I’m afraid for you. I’m also afraid for me because you have the ability to wound my heart.” She is being more honest with him than she’s been with anyone. She exposed her vulnerability and hopes it won’t come back to bite her on the ass.
“I’m not afraid, Roxy. I told you earlier. You could have told me in high school. I wouldn’t have been afraid then either. It’s not in my make up to fear those types of things. My vulnerability lies in you. You have the ability to completely knock me on my rear. I’m putting my heart in your hands too, Roxy.”
“You too, lover boy. I don’t open myself up to just anyone. I’m making an exception for you. Proceed with care.”
