“We’re going to get something to eat and you’re going to tell me why you cheated,” she demanded and walked towards her car. “Follow me to Waffle House,” she added. Raymond stood there unmoved by her attempt.
Kayla wasn’t sure what Raymond would do next.
She was happy that she, at least, made it to the car where she felt safer than being in the house.
The driveway was slightly on the left side of the house, so she watched for the next few minutes through the passenger window where Raymond still stood unmoved and dazed. She wasn’t sure what to do either, but she knew getting back out of the car wasn’t an option. She cracked the window about a fourth of the way down and tried to get his attention.
“Well? Are you following me or not?”
“For what?” he yelled, “I’m not about to go with you to no damn restaurant,” he replied angrily.
“And you’re the one to be making all decisions now, right? She replied sarcastically.
“I’m not going to a fucking restaurant,” he yelled.
“You need to keep your voice down before these nosy ass neighbors come outside.”
“I don’t have to do shit. Fuck you and your neighbors!”
“Well why in the hell…are you at my house? You can go and be with your little whore, I’m pretty sure she’s open.”
He briefly looked away and stood still for a minute while rubbing both hands over his face. Suddenly, he charged towards the car and violently kicked the passenger side door. Kayla was frighten to death as she started the car and began to hurriedly back out of the driveway. She stopped in the middle of the street and watched Raymond run from the driveway into the middle of the street like a mad man. He stood still and breathed heavily like a scene from a horror film. The yelling and hard thuds from Raymond kicking the side door must have wakened the next-door neighbors.
