THE ART OF HAPPINESS
------------------------------------------
A smile on her face
a lilt in her step
watching her you would think
she was happy.
A master of disguise
almost an art
but if you look closely
the signs are unmistakeable.
The smile doesn’t quite reach her eyes,
the tears, they are real;
the smile freezes
and she falters on her heel.
His arrogant image
floods her mind
her heart still aches
at his sight.
She brushes away the tear
picks up her bag
puts on her party face
and her mask of smiles.
