Maybe Lori missed me. My hope stirred faintly. Maybe we could go back to the way it was before the summer when we spent all our time together. I pushed Dylan from my mind and vowed to keep it that way. It was ridiculous that an unprovoked (as far as I could tell) cold shoulder from someone I didn’t even know should continue to upset me days after the fact.
I briefly toyed with the idea of going to Lori’s by myself— sans Maldova. But I reconsidered after the barest reminiscence of the trouble Maldova could find when left alone for just a short time. I didn’t even want to think about what the dragon could manage with a whole night to herself.
