Regina could still recall Jorja’s smile as she left Little Rock. Leaving. Leaving her behind. Not because she wanted to, but because she had to.
She had to leave, and I had to stay, Regina reminded herself.
So much time has passed. Now, she longs for the closeness she once had with her best friend. Can they recapture and rekindle their friendship?
Even the beautiful April morning couldn’t calm Regina’s nerves as she turned on the drive toward Jorja’s cabin.
I’m here. I’m really here, Regina thought. And I’m really nervous. It’s been so many years. Will we have anything in common now?
Has time and different lives robbed them of that great bond, or would it be as simple and comforting as putting on an old sweater. Could it be that easy to reconnect?
