It’s been two hundred twenty-six days since my life fell apart. My roommate Leslie says that I have to move on, but how do you move on, when your heart is paralyzed?
“Let’s go. The invitation says that happy hour runs from six to eight. I want to get twice as drunk for half the price.” She shoves some cash into her purse as she talks toward me.
She stops and gives me a once over. Her eyes scan me from head to toe. Shaking her head in disgust, she marches me back to my room.
“What?” I look at her questioningly. “This is fine. What’s wrong with what I’m wearing? I wore it to Tracy’s bridal shower.”
“Exactly, it’s perfect for the country club, not the salsa club.” She rummages through my closet and begins to toss things at me. “Put this on. Pair it with these shoes, and be out in less than five minutes, or you’re going naked.”
