Weldon sighed. Even the polls Stephanie had authorized showed the idea gaining public support. The PDP’s policy of decriminalizing illegal drugs would cut the cost of policing, corrections, judicial, and health care. The new taxes generated would amount to a revenue windfall.
But government control and distribution of drugs like cannabis, cocaine and heroin made certain people apoplectic. For these people it meant the end of enormous wealth and the power and influence it wielded. These people would not willingly give this up. These people were putting on the pressure.
