You, the reader, are the scope of this book. I recognize you, the daily challenges you face with limited budgets and indifferent leaders and your desire to find a solution. I recognize you by sharing my story and the recognition solutions I’ve witnessed and implemented that resulted in growth and positive cash-flows while competing in a commoditized industry. I emphasize the
commoditized industry, the telecommunications industry, to show if I and my colleagues can do it there, you can do it anywhere. Anywhere globally. Any company size, regardless of your revenue or employee numbers. Any industry, every industry. Maybe most important is the reality that you can implement the majority of these steps regardless of your title.
A much smarter person than I said doing the same thing and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. Taking the same steps we’ve been taking with employee recognition, too often using awards and trinkets to bribe employees, and expecting to see changes in employee
engagement is, well, insane. That sweeps aside the results very good programs. I apologize.
However, the overriding point is that you have the solutions. I’m sharing mine, hoping you can use them today and, in doing so, discover new ones customized for your company and your
stakeholders. As you do, let your colleagues know first and after that let me know. We’ll turn this thing around, yet.
All the best,
Zane Safrit
