“No,” said Aesop as he climbed into his grandmother’s lap, “I still do not know why, but I did learn that slow and steady can win a race, and I don’t like it when people boast.”
“That is very good Aesop. Tell me more.”
“Well, I saw a race today, Nana, where the tortoise beat the hare…”
When Aesop was finished telling his grandmother everything that happened, she looked at the young one with a big smile and a sparkle in her eye and said, “It sounds like you had a great adventure today. I know you did not find what you were looking for, but you did learn that bragging can hurt people and anything is possible with perseverance.”
