It was November 28th, 2000. A gloomy rainy day. Towards evening the rain pelted down and everyone was happy not having to step out in that lousy weather.
Karina Bellings, 28 years old, happily married to Robert, a respected lawyer in Hamburg, and the mother of a two-years-old daughter. She had just finished her shift as a nurse in the local hospital and wanted to hurry home, because it was her last day of work.
Karina had taken parental leave after the birth of their little daughter Sabrina. She wanted to stay home, so she could spend more time with her. Robert agreed to her decision, because as a lawyer with a thriving lawyer’s office, he could very well provide for the family. Karina's boss was the one who asked her, constantly begging, to stay to help out for a while, because she was a very good employee, and was actually indispensable to the clinic.
