“We are both equal, for we are both issued from dust, and I will not be submissive to you.” Lilith
Katherine began to read the parchments, three detailed paragraphs that read like so:
Of all the beasts to ever roam the earth, one was here at the beginning and she remains. Lilith, one of the wives of Sammael fled him for Adam, and then left the creation as well. She was a wild spirit. One who would not give in to the creation. Lilith is banished from Eden for her insolence and independence, or so it is told. Lilith fled before the wrath of her maker unfolded. Three Elohim are sent to retrieve her. They found the human-demon in the sea and bade her to return but she refused. Frustrated the godly beings thought to drown the beast, however the magic she had learned during her travels kept them at bay and prevented her drowning. They retreated into the heavens, and Lilith swore to haunt the off-spring of man for all eternity for their trespass.
But the Godly ones are not done with her for Michael approached Lilith from the south and put a curse upon her and all of her kind.
“You are not counted among men but of the beasts that man rules. You may walk in the light but the gates into heaven are forever closed to you and so is the creator’s mercy.”
Lilith writhed in pain from the words of the Archangel….
“Why am I the forsaken, because I used my will and wanted my own pleasure?” There was no answer for the door is now closed. She wandered throughout many lands until she sought refuge in dark places. There among countless foul beasts she rested and began to plot. Lilith created as a human, possessed by a demon spirit that obtained supernatural powers during her travels and explored the natural arts.
Her thirst for knowledge is matched by her deviant lust. She tasted the fruit from the life tree, and now possessed supernatural knowledge and power. This power she harnessed during her stay in the evil and dark places. Here she conjured and summoned demons to her lair mating with them and creating many foul beasts such as werewolves, shape shifters and other demons of deep dark haunts. Michael, the Archangel and Lucifer kept watch on her and her growing kind.
Finally Satan called for her and the dark leader of the fallen took her as his concubine. Lilith and the devil’s off-spring were the first Vampires and they roamed the earth before the numbers of man even mattered. These were the Vampire elders and lords. Michael took special note of this breed of carnivore which fed on the flesh and blood of mammals. It was a clear threat to man as they were hardier and stronger; so he visited the lustful Lilith when she roamed the land. He laid his hand upon her and reminded Lilith of the curse.
She ran back to the warmth of her evil benefactor and gave birth to another devil-spawn. It ripped its way through her uterus, forever rendering her unable to reproduce. He is named Caleb, and he is the last of the demon pure-blood Vampires.
Unlike any before him, he is immortal and dark in nature. He grew to despise his mother and her kind, making sport of them and eating their flesh when he could. He became an outcast and even Satan his father desired that he be removed from his presence.
Lilith no longer able to produce either demons or pure-blood Vampires from her womb; used her magic and conjured up another way to create more Vampires and infiltrate mankind. She taught this way to the pure-bloods and lesser Vampires came into being. They were human and not as hardy as the elders. Easily made, tracked and killed; yet their numbers increased over the centuries and so did their might.
With the rise of the great religions, Vampires and demons alike became fair game for the zealots and sanctified crusaders. Man outnumbered the devil-spawn that inhabited the earth with him, and he was relentless in the hunting and killing of these evil beings.
Scores of lesser Vampires are slaughtered from 850-1200ad; but they still were a formidable force for the pure-bloods to contend with. A Vampire revolt occurred when the lesser-ones obtained knowledge of negotiations between the religious enforcers and their own pure-blood lords. The lords had bargained their own sanctuaries for the lives of the lesser Vampires. The revolt was swift and brutal with the lesser-ones holding superior numbers. All but three pure-blood clans remained after the initial onslaught and then the deal is brokered between the keepers of the mystical natural arts and the Vampire lords.
A powerful witch (warlock to non-believers) skillful in black arts, Francis Alexis Beard, summoned, and commanded Caleb from the depths of hell. Once unchained, he feasted on his mother’s kind until they were vanquished in the east. What remained of the lesser-ones sued for peace which the Vampire lords accepted. The terms of surrender stated that the lesser-ones were to retreat into the mountains. The Vampire lords would move out across the seas and into the far west. This would put them far away from man, his religion, and his Vampire hunters.
For their part, the masters of the natural arts were made keepers of the solution. They would be the arbiters of the treaty. A powerful spell was cast upon Caleb imprisoning him until the end of time within the deep damp caves of Gibraltar. This is where he remains.
The Beard descendants keep the peace between the Vampire clans and the lesser-ones. They alone can summon the solution. Because of this many of their most powerful practitioners have died strange deaths. It is why the Beards are forever regarded as the Brokenhearted.
