Susan Harper is being held captive by her government in this romantic thriller, Second Life. As the normally feisty Susan’s hopes of freedom dwindle, a mysterious stranger sneaks into her room and promises to help her.
Susan and mystery man Rob grow close as he tries to orchestrate her escape. When the duo discovers the truth behind Susan’s captivity, they realize she is in grave danger, and they must act quickly. Susan and Rob will need more than passion for each other and their wits to succeed. They will need help from old friends, including Kelsey Reed.
In the previous book, Life First, Susan gave Kelsey a chance at a second life, but will she get her own?
RJ Crayton grew up in Illinois and now lives in a Maryland suburb of Washington, DC. She is a fiction writer by day and a ninja mom by night (What is a ninja mom, you ask? Same as a regular mom, only adding the ninja in front explicitly spells out the stealth and awesomeness required of moms). Before having children, Crayton was a journalist, so all the stuff she wrote had to be true (sniff, sniff). She's worked at big publications like the Wichita Eagle and the Kansas City Star, and little publications like Solid Waste Report and Education Technology News. Life First is her first published novel. The sequel to this book will be out soon, so she hopes you enjoyed it enough to want more.
Life First was a bit light on up-front, in-your-face-villains. It was a more nebulous big-government that was after Kelsey. In Second Life, Susan faces a foe with a face. And this line is from one of my favorites about our villain.
