CHAPTER 7
With every passing month, I learned more about the farm. Out in the fields were the lambs. I enjoyed perching and listening to them gathering. They always had something interesting to say, and it was always so confirming for what was happening within me.
Like the day when I perched on a rail fence and heard the lamb they call Pastor Pete say, “Letting others try to conform you to their image, their style, their convictions, or their pace, isn’t wise. Even if they mean well, it doesn’t work out. It’s just not the unique DNA God gave you. We each have to rise up, and walk or soar through our own journeys, at our own pace.”
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a few other figures wandering in. They appeared to be lambs, but then I realized, no, they weren’t lambs. They were wolves in sheep’s clothing!
After my little dress-up day, I wondered if they were just trying to fit in the way I had, to discover who they were. They looked a little sinister, but then, I hated to misjudge someone’s intentions based on looks or my gut feelings since I couldn’t seem to trust either.
Closer in they crept. Oh, they were trying to fit in, all right. They stepped right in, circled the place, and began pitching in to help by passing out snacks, sweeping up, and greeting at the door. I noticed a lot of drooling going on, and the creepy looks they gave each other as if they were setting up a raid or something.
