Harold stopped and stared. Joshua looked over his shoulder to see what had caught Harold’s attention. Senator Trey Jones sat in the middle of a pew in the center section, along with Richmond and Guilford. He saw Harold’s face begin to turn red. Harold closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
“As I was saying, my father was a man of great convictions. Convictions he put deep inside of me. He was a man who put everyone before himself, especially those who worked for him. He loved you all. Unfortunately, he could not live with the knowledge that men who were not like him, men with no scruples, men with no conscience, men like Senator Trey Jones, John Richmond, and Jerry Guilford, who would seek to destroy both our company and our family.”
The senator stood up and yelled, “That’s a dirty rotten lie!”
Harold was undeterred. “No, Senator, the only one rotten here is you and your two cronies. Stand up, you three. Let everyone see who caused my father’s death. His blood is on your hands!”
Barbara stood up and pointed her finger at the three men. “Get out of here! Isn’t it enough you try to bankrupt us? Now you try and destroy our hope? You destroyed my husband! Have you no self-respect?”
