There is nothing you can pray about that is too little or too big for God.
It is God’s desire that you come to Him believing and trusting His ability to answer your prayers. Everything in your life matters to God. You are one of His beloved children, and when you go to Him praying in faith, it’s a testimony of your love for Him.
You and I were not there when Jesus died on the cross and rose, but we accept Him as our Lord and Savior because we believe in our hearts that it’s true.
And though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory.
—1 Peter 1:8
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Our prayer life should be an extension of that faith—of that belief. Jesus, who rose from the dead, is our Savior; we believe in Him and go to Him in prayer. Without faith, our prayers have the power of wet tissue paper.
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
When we go to God in prayer, it is essential to go to Him in faith—not hoping but believing that He hears us. I admit that at times my faith is not as strong as the prophet Elijah when he called down fire from Heaven, but God wants us to have an unwavering faith in Him.
Whether we pray with a little faith or a lot, the key to experiencing power is Jesus Christ. He must be the object of our faith. When we put our complete trust in Him instead of someone or something else, we have hope.
No matter how small our faith may feel at times, we must boldly go to God with confidence believing in Him. Consider what Jesus said to His disciples when they were struggling with their faith.
And He said to them, ‘Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.’
