Something was wrong with the way they were feeding. Instead of draining as much blood from each victim as they could, they stopped after a few bites and moved on to someone else. They were biting whatever body part was nearest to them, whether it was a leg, an arm, or a face. Why aren't they going for the neck? Blood flow was heaviest and richest there.
Mark tried to make his way through the crowd to the women, but by the time he got there it was too late. The club was empty, only the six vampires remained, surrounded by piles of moaning bodies. Nissa came out of her trance.
“What...the...Mark?” He caught her just as she collapsed from fear and confusion. “What happened?”
“I’m not sure."
Felicia shook herself out of her trance.
“Dude! Come on! You decided to party like a rockstar and I got too drunk to remember it? I wouldn’t have had so much to drink if I had known!”
Mark signaled to the others to grab Felicia and they slipped out one of the back exits. None of them really knew what had just happened, but they knew this was New York and they only had a few seconds before trouble came their way.
