6. Fred brightened up our days at school, in class, in games and in the pool
But, his favorite time, I guess, was in the playground at recess.
As a pitcher he was best, and certainly outpaced the rest
He coiled up like a spring so tight, that no one saw the ball in flight.
And he could reach up really high, to catch a baseball on the fly.
7. He made friends when he succeeded, making things we really needed.
When the skipping rope mislaid, he volunteered himself instead.
At soccer time, another role, Fred bent himself to form the goal. And he proved the best of all, at dunk shots during basketball.
