In fact, on more than one occasion, doctors asked if I needed “something” to help me cope. My answer to them was, “No thanks. God allowed this to happen for a reason, and I need to trust Him.”
I truly believe God allowed me to survive the stroke for a reason. I was not sure why at the time, but in the years that followed, He revealed to me my responsibility to share the Gospel of Christ.
Because of my faith-infused prayers and those of several loved ones, I am now able to read and study God’s word. I am blessed with the ability to eat and drink without drooling or the fear of not being able to swallow. I am also no longer confined to lying flat on my back; I am able to walk with assistance.
Jesus understands our human frailties and can relate to our weaknesses. We must go to God believing He understands our needs and has the ability and desire to help those who seek Him.
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore, let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
So ask yourself when you go to God in prayer whether you are praying with strong faith, believing God hears you, or you are just hoping for the best when you pray.
When you pray to God, ask in faith and go to Him confidently. Share what is on your heart, believing in Him and His faithfulness to those who seek Him.
Lord Jesus, I believe in my heart that on the third day after Your crucifixion, You rose again and are now seated at the right hand of Almighty God. Thank You for blessing me with the faith to accept You as my Lord and Savior, for such a gift I am not worthy. Empower my faith as I come to You believing in who You are. I come to You on bended knee trusting You. In Jesus’s holy name I pray. Amen.
