Fred the pet snake didn't know how to cross the road. He became Fred-Fred when run over by an ambulance and had to go to hospital. The doctor needed a special bendy thread that grows beneath large rhinos. Brave Jungle Jim got the thread, and Fred was mended. He will be careful in future
British-born semi-retired Professor of Medicine in Charleston, SC, widely traveled and author of many medical books. I now have five rhyming children's books (beautifully illustrated by Bonnie Lemaire) about Fred the friendly snake. I wrote the first "When Fred the snake got Squished and Mended" when my kids were young, to teach them how not to cross the road. They called him "Fred-Fred" as a result. The midwest book review said "Move over for Fred-Fred, Lewis Carroll". More recently, Fred has gone to school, welcomed Jungle Jim and other animals, explored Charleston, and enjoyed the beach. And, I was not named after a rabbit.
Fred the friendly snake didn't know how to cross the road. Read on to find out how he got squished but then well mended with special thread that Jungle Jim got from beneath a rhino.
He did well and now features in four more books (www.petercottontales.com)
