Isis looked with concern from her celestial vantage over the
battlefield, joined by Cleopatra's father, the former Pharaoh Auletes,
and her mother, the former Queen Cleopatra V Tryphaena, as well as
Astraia, Auletes’s favored concubine, and Athena, Venus and the
former Julius Caesar, Cleopatra's first husband. Of the group, only the
goddesses knew the disposition of the Fates, and it was not favorable.
