“Mickey, I’ll be right back.” When he reappeared from inside the Scamp, he had an iced tea for his new friend. “Here, thought I’d stock my fridge for the both of us.”
The angel nodded and took the drink. “I’ve become quite fond of you, Ben. This is a good life, and I’ll be sad when I leave it.”
“Leave? Do you know who… do you have your plan arranged now?” Ben couldn’t say the actual words and was worried for Mickey. He had become used to having him around, and in an odd way, had grown fond of him. However, he did fear for the angel, thinking he was a dangerous man with delusional thoughts. He’d decided to play along, hoping that in time, the old man would let go of his crazy ideas.
Mickey looked out at the river and pointed. “Ben, are those noses out there?”
Looking in the direction he was pointing, Ben stood in disbelief. “Holy shit! Come on, Mickey. We’ve got a rare hatch going on.” He grabbed a rod for Mickey and then began assembling one for himself. He reached for his binoculars and stared through them to determine what fly to use.
