During that time, only boys from prominent families were allowed to go to school in Northern Uganda. The majority of the people were kept uneducated. We feared the idea of education because of the lies that they told us.
As a young teenage girl, I began brewing local alcohol to make money. When I was around 16 years old, I was married. My husband was a soldier during World War II.
