Jason was so nurturing to me through this time like I never had seen before and his thoughtful words always kept me from giving up completely. One afternoon, as he bent over the side of the couch, kissing my forehead as I was just waking up. I heard him singing to me. I opened my eyes and the room spun from being so frail and Jason was fast to wet my lips with a washcloth that he kept near me.
He smiled at me and before I tried to talk, he whispered, “You are so beautiful. So very brave and so strong. And there is nowhere else I would rather be, nothing else I would rather be doing and no other wish I would rather have than to be right here, experiencing this with you. I promise that when this is over, when you are well and can move again, I will show you the world. In sickness and in health my love. Forever on our journey through time together, loving each other more each day. This, my darling, is love. And you are a hero.”
