“You set an alarm?” Stacy’s voice croaked from next to him.
Gary reached over to the nightstand and attempted to find the button that would silence the annoyance. While frantically pressing buttons, he managed to turn a blaring radio on and off twice, change the beeping noise to a loud ring and finally silenced the noise that caused his heart to pound uncontrollably and adrenaline to surge through his body.
Stacy rolled over toward him and laid an arm across his chest. She nestled her head on his shoulder and purred, “We should just go back to sleep for a while and let the world keep spinning.”
“I totally agree,” Gary said, but I don’t think that my body will let me.”
