In any situation we want control. Mostly, we want control when something bad is happening in that we never want it to get "out of control" before we have an opportunity to reign it in. Often, we have a chance to plot and plan before a situation occurs. We know exactly what we'll do should things proceed as our mind says that it will. What sets leaders apart, however, is the ability to control the situation and think as events unfold. What if the leader is not so virtuous though? Take a look at this short excerpt and see where you think it might go, and be sure to visit Tokorel.com for more backstories and information about the characters!
The Eyes of Tokorel
Tayla was the first to awaken. She sat up with a start, ready to continue the battle. But there was none to be continued. Whatever the outcome, it was over. Gordek must have succeeded, she thought. I would be dead otherwise. Then she heard their voices, or rather the echoes of their voices in the corridor, Gordek laughing and that odd Khizaran woman screaming. As Tayla stood, she assessed the damages to her own body and decided she was none the worse for their experiment. Yokosh was alive, but his mind was deeply withdrawn. He would recover, but it would take some time. The other Khizaran, Kral, was stirring. She retrieved her weapon. His mind would be easy enough to control, but she wanted him alert.
