What many people might be surprised to learn is the role music plays on military ships.
While at sea, ships play music over their loudspeakers for many reasons—to motivate their crews, to announce various activities, and to improve morale. And the music of choice, by far, on US Navy ships is AC/DC.
COMFLTFORCOM’s next order—another unusual one—was to the on-duty bosun’s mate on the bridge of the USS Theodore Roosevelt. “After Nikel 200 traps, I want you to play AC/DC’s ‘Thunderstruck’ on the 1MC, understood?”
“Copy, Admiral,” was the bosun’s mate’s reply. The rest of the bridge crew looked at one another. Captain Fraser just smiled and let out a quiet chuckle.
