As Rex peers around the corner of the doorway, he can see there is no one in or around the com room.
“It’s empty; no crew… no aliens… just an eerie emptiness. Alright, let’s keep moving; get in and see what’s going on with the com.”
Rex approaches the com panel and flips several switches to check power to the com.
“Well, we have power to the board,” Rex sighs, “but the standby amber power light is the ONLY thing that appears to be working. I’m guessing whatever they did with that beam apparently fried the circuit board.”
“Maybe there was an electromagnetic pulse in the beam.”
“It’s certainly possible.”
Rex removes several screws and opens the com panel, on the populated board and notes several scorched computer chips.
“Just what I thought… that laser beam or whatever it was really did a number here. We need a replacement board from the parts locker, this one is completely fried.”
“I’m on it Rex, lets pray the extra shielding on the parts locker did its job saving those parts from any damage. What’s the parts number?”
“I have CP00334459.”
Arriving at the parts locker, Rory opens the door. With a prayer running through his thoughts, Rory hopes that he will find the needed part undamaged.
Rory, had never been the religious sort, but after having his prayers answered regarding he and Sahara’s soon-to-be born baby, he had decided that someone does listen and it’s certainly worth the try.
