“This one, Abu Hasim, seems to be rambling but now it’s beginning to make sense.” Clarkson played the recording back.
Dakin listened. “Okay, isolate Hasim and I’ll put the next questions to him. Keep the IV running at the current rate and dose.”
“Abu Hasim, it seems you have people in the United States.” Dakin put his hand on Hasim’s shoulder. “Are they family? Are they soldiers like you?” Dakin paused at the silence. “What does the number 5 mean? You keep telling me about the number 5.”
Hasim had his eyes closed. He began smiling. “We have two rewards. To die in battle means to merge with Allah in Paradise.”
“I know that Abu Hasim. Tell me about the number 5.” Dakin shook him gently and got closer to his ear.
“Five is a number for all Allah’s patriots.” Hasim chuckled. “Five successful combat missions and we go to the United States and await orders to strike the infidels from within.” He began laughing and kept his eyes closed. “We have been doing this for years. Our numbers in America increase after every fight, after every battle, and soon our American cells will arise.”
“This is a new list of people. I hope the Pentagon is using this stuff. We’ve sent them over forty tapes so far.” LT Clarkson secured the tapes and written documents.
