1 Corinthians 13:7
Love always hopes.
Dear Heavenly Father
I come to You with aching hands. The world says I'm supposed to tie a knot when I feel I'm at the end of my rope and hang on. My strength is failing as I try this under my own power. Where else can I turn?
You simply stretch out Your hands and say, "Trust Me." The calm assurance in Your voice gives me the one thing I've been missing in my struggle: hope. A glimpse at Your smile gives me the confidence to take the challenge. I let go of my rope.
During the time of free-fall doubts surface in my mind. Did I think this all the way through? Was there no other way? I recall Your words: "Trust Me." You are my only hope. Who else loves me so?
I land on Your strong hands and breathe a sigh of relief. The surprising gentleness of such powerful hands catches me off-guard. Why did I ever doubt You? I open my eyes and see Your warm smile again. When I roll over to stand I see my very name written on Your palm. Why have I never seen this?
"You've been Mine all along." My breath is again knocked out of my lungs. Then I realize, I've been here all the time. Your mighty hand closes around me in a soothing embrace. When did this all begin?
"I will never let you go." Not only is my hope restored, but so is my vitality. Use me as You see fit to spread this message of hope to every hurting soul holding on to the end of their rope. Move by Your Spirit to all I reach and bring them into Your holy family forever. How can I do less?
I pray this in the name of the only One worthy, Jesus Christ. AMEN
